The Best Beaches in St. Pete, Florida

St. Petersburg, Florida, is home to some of the most beautiful and unique beaches, each offering something special for families and visitors alike. Here’s a quick guide to help you find your perfect spot in the sun:

Pass-a-Grille Beach

Pass-a-Grille Beach is a charming and family-friendly destination that’s open and thriving post-hurricanes. This quaint beach boasts a small-town vibe with plenty of metered parking conveniently located near the entrance. You’ll find local restaurants just a short walk away, perfect for grabbing a bite after a day in the sun. Don’t miss the annual community bonfire event—it’s a local favorite and a wonderful way to connect with the Pass-a-Grille community.

Madeira Beach

Madeira Beach is known for its spacious, wide-open sands, making it a fantastic choice for families who need room to spread out. There’s a large parking lot right in front, so finding a spot is easy. After a day at the beach, you can rinse off at the conveniently located showers near the exit. Madeira Beach offers a relaxed atmosphere perfect for unwinding with family and friends.

St. Pete Beach

St. Pete Beach has something for everyone. On Sunday evenings, you can experience the lively drum circle, a unique cultural event that brings together locals and visitors. A Publix grocery store is located just across the street, making it easy to pick up snacks or drinks. While the parking lot at the front is small, additional parking is available near Publix, just a short walk away. Kids will love the inflatable slide set up on the beach, and this is also the site of the annual Sandcastle Competition held every November—an event that draws talented sculptors and spectators from all over.

Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach is my personal favorite, though it’s currently being restored from hurricane damage. When open, it offers a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere that’s perfect for a family outing. My daughter and I love visiting Caddy’s at Sunset Beach, where you can tip the cabana staff $5–$10 to have chairs and an umbrella set up for you—no heavy lifting required! The food at Caddy’s is delicious; we especially enjoy their grouper bites and sweet potato fries. Sunset Beach is the ideal spot for those looking for a casual beach day with great food and convenience.

Each of these beaches has its own charm, so no matter which you choose, you’re bound to enjoy a day of sun, sand, and memories in beautiful St. Pete, Florida.
